About the Subject

• SHAWN ANDAYA. California native. Texas A&M softball pitcher 1984-87. Three-time All-American. Career 114-28 record with 10 saves. Set NCAA career record for strikeouts with 1,234. Led Texas A&M to three national championship game appearances. In 1987 led nation in victories (36) & strikeouts (326). Threw a perfect game in a 1-0 victory over UCLA in ‘87 WCWS elimination game. Aggies beat UCLA again to win the ‘87 NCAA title. Pitched longest game in WS history in 1984 (25 innings) then had game-winning RBI in 25th. Made WCWS All-Tournament team three times. NCAA 25th Anniversary Women’s College World Series team. Texas A&M Athletic HOF
