Charely Johnson played basketball & QB at New Mexico State with a 23-9 record in football. 1st & only back to back Sun Bowl MVP (1959 & 1960) & only player in school history to have jersey retired. Member of the NMSU Sports HOF. 15 year NFL QB with St. Louis Cardinals, Houston Oilers & Denver Broncos. 1963 NFL Pro Bowl Selection. Won 60% of games started. Denver Broncos Ring of Fame
