- Austin, Texas' official motto is the "Live Music Capital of the
World". Every night over one hundred venues stage live music
- Austin is also the home of South by
Southwest (SXSW), a world renowned annual film, music and interactive
conference and festival, and the famed Austin City Limits Music
Festival
(ACL). The PBS live music television show Austin City Limits began here
in 1976
- Stevie Ray Vaughan was an American blues guitarist. He was the
frontman for Double Trouble. Vaughan
was an important figure in Texas blues, a loud, swing-driven fusion of
blues and rock. He became the leading musician of the blues rock sound.
His debut Texas Flood, released in June 1983, became a double-platinum
record. Vaughan encompassed multiple styles, including jazz and
ballads. Nominated for 12 Grammys, he won six
- Willie Nelson is an American country singer-songwriter, author,
poet, and was one of the main figures of the Outlaw
Movement, a sub genre of country music that developed between the end
of the 1960s and early 1980s. The critical success of the albums
Shotgun Willie, Phases and Stages, and the commercial success of Red
Headed Stranger made Nelson one of the most recognized artists in
country music
